Bayside Community Center
What they do & why we invested
Bayside Community Center provides emergency food distributions, critical case management, and after-school literacy programs to vulnerable Linda Vista residents. Due to the pandemic, Bayside’s funding has been impacted by a loss in grant sources, decreased fee for service, and disrupted fundraising. Bayside has since pivoted its team’s focus to grant writing and increasing fee-for-service revenue. At the same time, the pandemic has prompted an increased demand for their services, which have had to shift to virtual and safe in-person delivery. The loan funding contributes to emergency purposes and will help Bayside keep all of its staff on during this critical time.
“Support from Mission Driven Finance during the pandemic gave us the stability and the platform from which to not only sustain but also to grow our operations,” said Kim Keinle, the executive director of Bayside Community Center. “We were able to lead with our mission instead of worrying about how our donors and funders would react to the pandemic. With the investment from Mission Driven Finance, we built momentum that has culminated in the re-establishment of the Linda Vista Community Garden.”
