Buds and Blossoms Preschool
What they do
Nikki Boles saw a big gap in quality preschool for middle-income families, having spent more than 30 years in the public and private sectors. She noticed that parents were either receiving help to offset high preschool costs or they would struggle financially in order to send their children to a place they trusted. Feeling that families shouldn’t have to choose between affordable and quality child care, Nikki and Tony Arzu decided to open Buds and Blossoms Preschool in Fallbrook, CA in November 2020.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, the mission of Buds and Blossoms Preschool is to provide an excellent place for children ages 6 weeks to five years old to explore and make sense of their world. They offer a learning environment that emphasizes cooperation, new skills development, and a strong sense of responsibility. The preschool focuses on serving the needs of essential front-line workers and military families in need of alternative child care by maintaining extended hours.
Why we invested
Buds and Blossoms Preschool recently added infant care to their program and needed funds to pay for fixed costs such as a new alarm system, permit and inspection fees, building repairs, safety equipment, and new supplies for the incoming students.
Mission Driven Finance provided working capital for them as they waited for grant funding and other pending capital sources.
With this new investment, Buds and Blossoms intends to create seven new jobs and expand their operations, from serving 42 preschoolers to including 19 more infants.
