About the property

Care Access Real Estate’s (CARE) first property is located on a quiet residential street in the Winchester area of Las Vegas, Nevada.

This 2,260-square-foot property is well laid out for child care, with ample natural light from skylights and large windows in the main child care space. The driveway and plentiful street parking allow for safe and easy drop-offs and pickups. The large fenced backyard is directly accessible from two locations in the child care space. Another highlight of this house is the two large dedicated family spaces separate from the child care program space.

About the provider

For 15 years, Markeshia served as a special education assistant and substitute teacher at Los Angeles Unified School District. With her own family growing and high costs of living in California, however, she and her family moved to Las Vegas in 2022. After teaching at a private school for a couple of months and realizing she wasn’t prioritizing her own family, she decided to pursue a child care license so she could be present with her daughters at home.

But the apartment the family was renting was not licensable.

With the support of a trainer at Wonderschool, Markeshia applied to be a CARE candidate tenant and matched with CARE’s first property. She and her family moved into the home renovated by CARE in October of 2023, becoming licensed to care for up to 12 children in February 2024.

Markeshia plans to garden with the children around the pomegranate tree in the yard.
