Good For Others Foundation
What they do
Founded by John Valencia in 2021, Good For Others Foundation is a San Diego-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals through free, accessible training programs, particularly supporting underserved populations. It spun out of John’s history of consulting with nonprofits, government agencies, and education institutions.
Good For Others Foundation offers career development in priority sectors like construction, health care, and technology, designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and confidence for job readiness. By partnering with industry leaders and educational institutions, they work to break down barriers to education and create inclusive, supportive communities that foster growth and success.
Good For Others Foundation recently received a multi-year grant from the California Workforce Development Board to implement a workforce development program to increase the number of skilled workers from underserved populations in high-quality jobs in the nonprofit sector. The program is intended to serve 450 people who are unemployed and underserved, including those who are homeless and housing insecure, immigrants, veterans, and youth.
Why we invested
Good For Others Foundation sought funding to cover reimbursable expenses from the grant. Capital from the Advance Strategy provides working capital for the nonprofit during the first half of the grant period.
