Think Dignity
What they do & why we invested
Think Dignity offers advocacy, social, and legal programs for those experiencing homelessness. This includes their Fresh Start Showers mobile operation, which provides access to safe shower facilities and basic hygiene resources, their Homeless Youth Legal & Advocacy Project, which supports homeless youth through pro bono representation and personalized advocacy, and their Transitional Storage Center, which offers 400 lockers and bins for homeless individuals to safely store their personal belongings for an unlimited period of time. More than anything, Think Dignity acts as a resource hub, connecting people to employment, housing, and educational services.
Their Transitional Storage Center is funded through the San Diego Housing Commission’s Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention Program (HHAP) and Homeless Emergency Aid Program (HEAP) grants. However, because of COVID they saw a delay and decrease in grants and have been incurring costs for their Transitional Center since July 2021. In addition to this, the organization has seen a decrease in donations which has severely impacted their operations.
The organization will use the capital in order to continue their operations and cover monthly expenses such as payroll, rent, and utility bills.
